Empathy according to me:
"Empathy isn't just remembering to say that must be really hard - it's figuring out how to bring difficulty into the light so it can be seen at all. Empathy isn't just listening, it's asking the questions whose answers need to be listened to. Empathy requires inquiry as much as imagination. Empathy requires knowing you know nothing. Empathy means acknowledging a horizon of context that extends perpetually beyond what you can see" (Jamison 5).

  • I've learned from my experiences that empathy can be its strongest when the person is doing more than just in that state of being "empathetic", but also asking questions, listening to those who need to be heard, imagination to be able to expand beyond your own personal experiences, and realizing the fact that in some situations you truly know nothing. The strongest state of empathy is at when someone is able to expand beyond themselves personally and get into another mindset.
